‘Twilight’ author Stephenie Meyer’s sci-fi novel ‘The Host’ is currently being adapted by New Zealander filmmaker Andrew Niccol (‘In Time’). Niccol is currently shooting the new thriller based on his adapted screenplay which revolves around an ‘alien’ character called ‘The Wanderer’ who is part of a new species that have taken over the minds of human hosts. The hosts’ thoughts are fused with the invader and are full of love and yearning for the love of her life so the newly paired duo go in search for him. Hopefully the final product won’t be as sugary or romanticised as that else we’re going to have another ‘Twilight’ on our hands for the knees of young girls to once again go wobbly at. The first teaser trailer for ‘The Host’ has gone online which you can check out below. The flick stars Saoirse Ronan -below (‘Hanna’), Diane Kruger, Jake Abel, William Hurt, Frances Fisher, Max Irons, Chandler Canterbury and Boyd Holbrook.
“Melanie Stryder refuses to fade away. The earth has been invaded by a species that take over the minds of their human hosts while leaving their bodies intact, and most of humanity has succumbed. Wanderer, the invading “soul” who has been given Melanie’s body, knew about the challenges of living inside a human: the overwhelming emotions, the too vivid memories. But there was one difficulty Wanderer didn’t expect: the former tenant of her body refusing to relinquish possession of her mind. Melanie fills Wanderer’s thoughts with visions of the man Melanie loves-Jared, a human who still lives in hiding. Unable to separate herself from her body’s desires, Wanderer yearns for a man she’s never met. As outside forces make Wanderer and Melanie unwilling allies, they set off to search for the man they both love.”
‘The Host’ is set to open on 29 March 2013.
