Arriving on DVD/Blu-ray and VOD this coming June is the next chapter in the ‘Joy Ride’ franchise. Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment will be unveiling the ‘Joy Ride 3: Road Kill’, from writer/director Declan O’Brien, next month and have just unveiled the first official trailer from the follow-up. The direct-to-DVD sequel features ‘Freddy vs. Jason’s Ken Kirzinger playing the role of Rusty Nail who this time turns his murderous tendancies towards a group of innocent street racers. The third installment stars Kirsten Prout, Dean Armstrong, Ben Hollingsworth, Jesse Hutch, Gianpaolo Venuta, Leela Savasta, Sara Mitich, J. Adam Brown and Jake Manley. You can check out the new trailer below.
UK readers will no doubt be more familiar with the ‘Joy Ride’ franchise by its alternative naming ‘Roadkill’. Which is simply going to make the UK release of this third installment a little more complicated. Or should we just expect it to be named ‘Roadkill 3: Road Kill’. Clearly nothing confusing there!
“Rusty Nail is back on the road again looking to punish injustice at every turn — and this time it’s with a group of hotheaded street racers on their way to the Road Rally 1000. As they drive through a desolate shortcut on the way to the race, an encounter with Rusty turns sour and soon he is tracking, teasing and torturing them until the end of the road.”
‘Joy Ride 3: Road Kill’ is released in the US on DVD/Blu-ray and VOD on 3 June.
