Joe Cornish, who co-wrote the new Steven Spielberg project ‘The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn’, has been busy enjoying the positive plaudits he’s most certainly deserves for his Brit sci-fi comedy flick ‘Attack the Block’. It’s been doing the usual circuit of festivals of late and the great news is that finally a US release date has been revealed! Sony Screen Gems will be opening the flick into been told that the movie will be getting a limited initial release from 29 July. Edgar Wright (‘Hot Fuzz’, ‘Scott Pilgrim vs. the World’) served as executive producer and starred ‘Hot Fuzz’ and ‘Paul’ funnyman Nick Frost, Jodie Whittaker (‘St Trinian’s 2: The Legend of Fritton’s Gold’), Luke Treadaway and Joey Anash star. ‘Attack the Block’ will also be featuring at this year’s Comic Con event.
“Sam is walking home in a scary South London tower block when she’s robbed by a gang of hooded youths. She flees when the gang are attacked by a small alien creature which falls from the sky. While Sam and the police hunt for the gang, a second wave of creatures falls. The gang grab weapons, mount bikes, and set out to defend their turf. But this time, the creatures are much bigger. Savage and bestial, nothing will stand in their way. And the bunch of no-hope kids who just attacked Sam are about to become her only hope.”
