The lovely Kate Beckinsale will be enjoyed in 3D everywhere later this month when ‘Underworld: Awakening’ arrives in theatres (20 Jan). But recently the actress has been chatting with Collider and has been bigging up her ‘fighting’ role in next year’s ‘Total Recall’ reimagining for helmer Len Wiseman (‘Underworld’). Beckinsale will be playing the role of Lori Quaid, originally embodied by Sharon Stone in Paul Verhoeven’s ‘Total Recall’ way back in 1990. Beckinsale (below) will be scrapping with the likes of Colin Farrell (playing Doug Quaid/Hauser) and also the equally hot Jessica Biel (below) who is stepping into the role of Melina. Can’t really think of anything better than some fisticuffs between just two of the sexiest ladies in cinema today so roll on August! Bryan Cranston (‘Breaking Bad’), Bill Nighy (‘Shaun of the Dead’) and Ethan Hawke (‘Daybreakers’) also star in the new adaption based on the short story by sci-fi author Philip K. Dick.
“I’m beating everyone up. Fighting with Colin [Farrell], fighting with Jessica [Biel]. The fight with Jessica is going to be great. I like the fact that it’s a proper fight. It’s not two girls, and one of them, the shoulder is ripped off, and the bra comes out. It’s not like one of those stupid girl fights. It’s a proper fight.”
“Total Recall is a new, contemporized reimagining of the science fiction saga. The film will be directed by Len Wiseman and produced by Neal H. Moritz and Toby Jaffe, with Ric Kidney on-board as executive producer. The short story “We Can Remember It for You Wholesale” by Philip K. Dick served as the source for the 1990 Motion Picture screen story by Ronald Shusett & Dan O’Bannon and Jon Povill and screenplay by Ronald Shusett & Dan O’Bannon and Gary Goldman, with the updated screenplay being written by Kurt Wimmer and Mark Bomback and James Vanderbilt.”
‘Total Recall’ is set to arrive on 3 August 2012 stateside and from 23 August here in the UK.
