Ben Ketai has been tapped to direct the sequel to the chilly vampire tale ’30 Days of Night’. The original that starred both Josh Hartnett and Melissa George is being sequelised into ’30 Days of Night: Dark Days’. Ketai has already had some involvement in the franchise by working on both the ’30 Days of Night: Blood Trails’ and ’30 Days of Night: Dust to Dust’ web series.
Brit director David Slade helmed the original movie in which a small isolated Alaskan town comes under attack from a blood-thirsty group of vicious vampires during it’s annual plunge into darkness. Slade won’t be back this time around as he is taking on vampires of a different manner after being selecting to helm ‘The Twilight Saga: Eclipse’.
The sequel is supposedly about Stella (who was originally played by Melissa George) joining a group of vampire hunters in order to get revenge on Lilith – the vampire responsible for the attack on her Alaska town. The story was worked on by both author Steve Niles and Ketai himself.
The movie is scheduled to begin production in Vancouver this coming October.
