We’re sad to report that the legendary British actor Edward Woodward has sadly passed away at the age of 79. The star, born in Croydon, had been suffering from various illnesses, including pneumonia and died in hospital.
Edward will of course be remembered for his numerous credits over the years, including endless TV appearances, but will always stick in my mind with his amazing performance as Sergeant Howie in Robin Hardy’s 1973 cult-classic horror-mystery ‘The Wicker Man’, where he starred alongside Christopher Lee, Britt Ekland and Ingrid Pitt.
Although most audience members will likely remember him more fondly for his role as Robert McCall in the popular crime show ‘The Equalizer’ which ran from 1985-1989.
Edward was last seen quite recently in British soap ‘Eastenders’ where he played a mysterious character called Tommy who had a secret dark history.
