Marti Nixon, the producer, writer and director involved in the hugely popular vampire show ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’ has been given directorial duties on another vampire-related tale, this time in the form of a remake of cult-vampire flick ‘Fright Night’.
This idea has been fleeting around Hollywood for quite a while now but it’s now in the hands of Dreamworks and will be a straight forward remake of Tom Holland’s 1985 classic vampire comedy. Nixon has mostly been involved in a number of hi-end TV shows as producer and writer, including ‘Prison Break’, ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ and ‘Mad Men’ so at least we should see some quality injected into this reVAMP.
The original premise centered around Charlie Brewster (played by William Ragsdale) who believes that his next door neighbour Jerry Dandridge (Chris Sarandon) is a vampire. When Dandridge confronts Charlie in his own bedroom one night and tries to kill him, Charlie concludes that the monster must be destroyed. But since nobody believes his story he enlists the help of Peter Vincent (played by the legendary Roddy McDowall), the vampire killer from his favourite horror TV show, who is in fact sceptical about vampires existing for real.
