For those rubbing their grubby little hands together in anticipation of the impending release of Tommy Wirkola’s (‘Dead Snow’) horror action movie ‘Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters’ are in for some great disappointment. Sadly it seems that Paramount have decided to push it back all the way back to January 2013! So what’s the idea guys? It appears that the studio are holding off on the release so they can wait for one of its stars Jeremy Renner to become more bankable. ‘The Hurt Locker’ star will be appearing in both ‘The Avengers’ and ‘The Bourne Legacy’ over the next 12 months and therefore will gain box office appeal so by the time ‘Witch Hunter’s arrives in theatres early next year his audience drawer should be nicely increased. Another factor to take into account is the 3D effects involved in the project which has resulted in the push back. The movie co-stars the sexy Gemma Arterton -below (‘St Trinian’s, ‘The Disappearance of Alice Creed’) and is an action-based fairy tale adaption.
“Catching up with Hansel and Gretel 15 years after their incident involving a gingerbread house, the siblings have evolved into bounty hunters who hunt witches.”
