‘Red Riding Hood’ star Shiloh Fernandez has been lucky enough to land the Ash-like role in the Ghost House and Mandate Pictures’ reboot of Sam Raimi’s cult 80’s horror flick ‘The Evil Dead’. Fernandez (below) will play David, which we have got to assume will be based ‘roughly’ on the role famously portrayed by Bruce Campbell in the original ‘Evil Dead’ trilogy. Both David and his sister Mia, who was originally set to be played by Lily Collins (‘Priest’) – but since pulled out of the project, are the main focus of the feature redo. The script was penned by Rodo Sayagues and director Fede Alvarez along with some re-writes by ‘Juno’ scribe Diablo Cody and will kick off its shoot next month in New Zealand. The competent minds of Raimi, Campbell and Robert Tapert will all still be involved in the project in a producing capacity…which is a slight relief.
“In this retelling, five friends (David, Natalie, Eric, Olivia, and Mia) hole up at a remote cabin where they discover a Book of the Dead. A demonic force is unleashed possessing each until only one is left to fight for survival.”
