Root of All Evil Director Returns With Silent

At one time New Jersey was a favorite locale of such film pioneers as D. W. Griffith and Mary Pickford, and the historic borough of Fort Lee was the first center of the American motion picture industry. Broadway stars and producers came here to make many of their first feature-length films; but by 1926 everything change. That’s when movies began to talk.

Revscope Pictures Inc. has revisited New Jersey’s rich cinematic past by creating an authentic feature length silent film. Simply titled “Silent” ” – the film is a gothic-comedy about an outlandish girl who is cursed with a ‘real’ voice in a silent-film world.

This silent film hopes to evoke more than nostalgia. “We want our audience to cheer for the hero and hiss at the villain just like they did over 80 years ago” says Writer/Director Michael Pleckaitis.

Due to much interest and buzz, the Fort Lee and Bergen County Film Commission will showcase the world premiere of ‘Silent’ at the Reel Jersey Film Festival: A Celebration of American Film Past, Present & Future on Friday, September 26 at 6:30PM with a red carpet premiere to be followed by a Q&A with the films director and cast.
