‘True Blood’ fans will know him better as Eric Northman but it seems actor Alexander Skarsgard has landed a role in the upcoming remake of Sam Peckinpah’s cult 70’s ‘Straw Dogs’. The remake, scheduled for release next year, is currently in pre-production and is set to star James Marsden. Kate Bosworth will also be re-joining Marsden after their stint together on ‘Superman Returns’.
This time around Marsden will play a Hollywood screenwriter who relocates with his wife to her hometown in Mississippi. Kate Bosworth will play the wife, who left the South for LA. to become an actress and returns home so her husband can finish his script in quiet. There, while tensions build between them, a brewing conflict with locals becomes a threat to them both.
Skarsgard will play her high school boyfriend, an ex-football hero who sees the return of his former girlfriend as a way to reclaim glory.
The shoot is scheduled to begin this August with Rod Lurie, who also penned the screenplay, at the helm.
