Fret not Taylor Lautner fans. In spite of some various recasting rumours recently floating about it seems Lautner’s role as Jacob Black is safe for the for the Twilight sequel ‘New Moon’. Both Summit Entertainment and director Chris Weitz announced late Wednesday that Taylor Lautner would indeed be returning.
The Jacob Black character becomes a central figure in the plot as Bella Swan (played by the sexy Kristen Stewart) is drawn into the world of the werewolves, the ancestral enemies of vampires.
Weitz has noted that there was speculation about whether Lautner could portray the character who goes through many changes physically, including growing taller and bulkier and aging 10 years. But 16-year-old Lautner has been spending time in the gym and attempting to add 19 pounds of muscle.
Lautner will join fellow returning castmates Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart. And the ‘Twilight’ sequel ‘New Moon’ is setting up to begin production in the next coming weeks.
‘New Moon’ will hit theaters November 20, 2009.
