The folks over at Dread Central are reporting some quite astonishing horror news worthy of a guaranteed double take for all those whom clap their eyes on it! It seems that the DC dudes have word that ‘Spiderman’ and ‘Drag Me To Hell’ editor Bob Murawski is heading to Detroit to begin work on a new flick in the ‘Evil Dead’ franchise for Sam Raimi! Early word was that this would be ‘Evil Dead IV’, a straight-up sequel, however it now looks to be simply a remake. Solidified further by ‘The Evil Dead’ star Bruce Campbell whom over the past weekend tweeted in response to a disbelieving fan stating that “Believe in the remake, dawg! The project is real. In the works. Cool as hell. Scary as hell.” Well, you can’t argue with that!
UPDATE: Bloody Disgusting are reporting that helmer Freddy Alvarez is directing the remake for Sam Raimi’s Ghost House Pictures and Madnate.
“The 30-year old cult horror flick found five friends visiting a cabin in the woods where they find unspeakable evil lurking in the forest. They find the Necronomicon and the taped translation of the text. Once the tape is played, the evil is released. One by one, the teens are possessed. With only one remaining, it is up to him to survive the night and battle the evil dead.”
