One heck of a fantastic French film from 2008 was Pascal Laugier’s ‘Martyrs’. The brutal tale of abuse, torment and torture…it was visually exciting and bleakly raw. So, of course, logic dictates it must demand a remake!? Booooo. There was obviously going to be a bit of a blacklash when the announcement that an English-speaking remake was in the pipeline but will this latest news calm the haters a little? German director Daniel Stamm has just been signed up to the project. Stamm recently gained some note-worthy feats with the Eli Roth produced horror ‘The Last Exorcism’ and it will be very interesting also to see who he has in mind to take on the roles of Anna and Lucie, played brilliantly by both Morjana Alaoui (below) and Mylène Jampanoï in the original.
“A young woman’s quest for revenge against the people who kidnapped and tormented her as a child leads her and a friend, who is also a victim of child abuse, on a terrifying journey into a living hell of depravity.”
