20th Century Fox have been monkeying around with names and have settled on that of ‘Zero Dark Thirty’ star Jason Clarke (below) to lead their new ‘Planet of the Apes’ sequel ‘Dawn of the Planet of the Apes’. Following on, 15 years later, from the events of 2011’s ‘Rise of the Planet of the Apes’ Aussie actor Clarke’s actual role details are still unknown at this time to keep us teased to breaking point. Matt Reeves (‘Let Me In’) will be in the director’s seat whilst Brit actor Andy Serkis will be returning to provide the excellent motion capture performance. The Hollywood Reporter have stated that “One focus is on the human scientists who are struggling to survive alone in San Francisco. Another aspect of the story is the struggle of intelligent ape Caesar to maintain dominance over his kingdom.” The sequel will shoot this Spring for a 2014 release.
‘Dawn of the Planet of the Apes’ is due to arrive on 23rd May 2014.
