It’s been a while since we’ve heard anything on THE STORYTELLER, the ambitious independent horror film written and directed by Andrew Getty. Fango got a chance to talk to Michael Berryman, who plays the nasty Cadaver character in the movie, and he gave us a quick update. “THE STORYTELLER has been a labor of love for about two and a half years—starting up, stopping, starting up again,” he tells us. “We’ve finally wrapped it all up, and it’s being edited right now. It’s the most ambitious project I’ve ever been involved in, and I’m really looking forward to it. We’re hoping it’ll come out this year.”
Berryman’s co-stars in THE STORYTELLER include Sean Patrick (TV’s DEAD ZONE) Flanery, Fred Koehler, Dina (SAW) Meyer and Brianna (NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD 3D) Brown, and the HILLS HAVE EYES fave couldn’t be more enthusiastic about the project. “It’s a brilliant screenplay; I think it’s the most intelligent script I’ve read in 30 years,” he says. “It’s a psychological horror-thriller that relies on old-school concepts of practicality, and things happening before the camera, right in front of the lens—no CGI. It’s smart dialogue, with subthemes that interweave throughout.” We’ll keep you posted about more STORYTELLER updates.
