Not that it will come as any surprise if you’ve been following Dark Castle at all, but Joel Silver’s little genre branding signed a multiyear deal with Warner Premiere to produce a few direct-to-DVD horror films per year, the first release of which will be Return to House on Haunted Hill this October.
Warner Premiere is the line Warner Bros. began just over a year ago to try and make a splash in the direct-to-DVD scene, which is apparently making all sorts of profits, so Dark Castle seems like a perfect fit.
For some reason, the Variety article mentions that Dark Castle won’t just produce horror titles, which is kind of disappointing as that’s where the whole label came from in the first place. Of course, it was also supposed to be for William Castle remakes, as well, and that didn’t last too long.
Other titles in the works for the line are a supernatural thriller called Widow Whisps, 80’s slasher homage Cheerleaders in Trouble and a psychological suspense film entitled Odds.
Stay tuned for more on all the new Dark Castle films very soon!
