Sharks and Aliens are back with some force in 2011. It seems every other movie coming out this year involves one or the other. And joining the slew of man-eating fish flicks due to arrive this year is Aussie horror ‘The Reef’, Halle Berry in ‘Dark Tide’, a host of shark-related Syfy productions and also David R. Ellis’ yet to be named ‘Untitled 3D Shark Thriller’. The movie’s title came up in a discussion with the director whilst chatting with New York Magazine’s Vulture Ellis. Apparently not being a fan of the original ‘Shark Night 3D’ title, which is what is what previously known as he’s been on the lookout for a new and decent re-naming. The gorgeous (and bound to be bikini clad) Sara Paxton (below) stars alongside Dustin Milligan, Katharine McPhee, Chris Carmack, Alyssa Diaz, Joel David Moore, Donal Logue, Sinqua Walls and Chris Zylka. Check out what Ellis had to say below.
“I hated the original title [Shark Night 3D], too,” says Ellis, reached in his editing bay, “so at our weekly production meetings, I made everyone on the crew come up with names – Chums, Fins, Terror on the Lake – but they all seemed kind of cheesy. And so until I hear a better name, I like what we’ve got right now: Untitled 3D Shark Thriller. The title says everything you need to know: ‘We’ve got sharks’; ‘It’s in 3D’; and ‘It’s a thriller.'”
“‘Untitled 3D Shark Thriller’ revolves around seven men and women who spend a weekend at a lake house in Louisiana’s Gulf area. When their vacation quickly becomes a nightmare of hellish shark attacks, unheard of in freshwater lakes, they soon discover that the sharks are part of a sick, greedy plan on the part of several locals.”
The flick will swim into theatres on 2 September 2011 with a shiny new title.
