PRECINCT 13 REMAKE
It never ends? Focus Features is backing a remake of John Carpenter?s ASSAULT ON PRECINCT 13. The update will take place in the present day and be set in ?a precinct made obsolete by the industrialization of its surroundings,? according to sources. The story concerns a notorious mobster being temporarily held at the about-to-be-closed station house, where a group of cops and cons is forced to battle a vicious gang determined to break him out. James (THE NEGOTIATOR) DeMonaco is scripting the film, which will be co-produced by Stephane Sperry?s Liaisons Films and Pascal Caucheteux?s Why Not Productions (why not? We?ve got a few reasons?). No director has yet volunteered to try to outdo Carpenter.
