Craig Gillespie’s ‘Pride and Prejudice and Zombies’ can’t seem to catch a casting break. The list of Hollywood hotties who are passing on this kick-ass sounding movie is getting crazy. ‘Gossip Girl’ and ‘The Town’ star Blake Lively is the latest smoking hot babe to shake her head at the adaption of the Seth Graheme-Smith novel. So those keeping a tally now means that Blake (below) has joined Scarlett Johansson, Mia Wasikowska, Emma Stone (‘Zombieland’) and even Natalie Portman (‘Black Swan’) in the heap of project passers. Portman of course is still on board the project in a producing capacity.
“‘Pride and Prejudice and Zombies’ follows the plot of Pride and Prejudice, but places the novel in an alternative universe version of Regency-era England where zombies (and indeed skunks and chipmunks) roam the English countryside. Described as the “stricken”, “sorry stricken”, “undead”, “unmentionables”, or just “zombies”, the deceased ancestors of England are generally viewed by the characters as a troublesome, albeit deadly, nuisance. Their presence alters the original plot of the story in both subtle and significant ways.”
