Neill Blomkamp’s latest sci-fi thrill ride comes in the form of the post-apocalyptic ‘Elysium’ and the first TV spot has arrived bringing with it futuristic visions, action and more of the skin headed Matt Damon (‘The Bourne Ultimatum’). Sadly the new spot doesn’t feature a great deal more footage than what we’ve already seen in the previously released teaser trailer. Sharlto Copley (‘Europa Report’), Jodie Foster (‘Silence of the Lambs), William Fichtner (‘Drive Angry’), Michael Shanks (‘Saving Hope’), Alice Braga (‘I Am Legend’), Diego Luna, Talisa Soto and Carly Pope all co-star. “In the year 2159, two classes of people exist: the very wealthy, who live on a pristine man-made space station called Elysium, and the rest, who live on an overpopulated, ruined Earth. The people of Earth are desperate to escape the planet’s crime and poverty, and they critically need the state-of-the-art medical care available on Elysium – but some in Elysium will stop at nothing to enforce anti-immigration laws and preserve their citizens’ luxurious lifestyle. The only man with the chance to bring equality to these worlds is Max (Matt Damon), an ordinary guy in desperate need to get to Elysium. ‘Elysium’ arrives in the US on 9 August and in the UK on 20 September.
