A Halloween wouldn’t be the same in Bedfordshire without The Howl. And this October, The Howl is returning to Mead Open Farm near Leighton Buzzard celebrating 10 years of Halloween horrors.
Over the last decade, The Howl has become a staple of Halloween events with thousands of visitors coming here to enjoy the evening of scary attractions, entertainment and fun. And while over the years the event itself has changed significantly, its concept has stayed mostly the same – put people in an uncomfortable situation and see how they react.
This year, there are 7 haunts for visitors to explore, each of which will feature its own characters, setting and type of horror. Visitors will be able to visit Haunt Valley High, where cheerful high school cheerleaders and jocks will not be very friendly to you. This year The Howl will also present the new Ding Dong Die.
Perhaps the most significant change for this year is that people are no longer able to visit each of the haunts just once during their evening at the attraction. Instead, tickets allow them to visit any of the haunts as many times as they want throughout the evening.
This is a nice addition for those who have already visited one of the haunts and realised that they spent most of the time hiding behind a friend. They will now be able to go back to it and try again, although whether they will feel brave enough to try is another question.
But of course, there is lots going on outside the haunts as well. Entertainment has always been a big part of The Howl, with roaming characters and award winning street performers keeping visitors amused between visiting attractions. Besides the music and DJs, there is the Circus of Screams where visitors will be able to watch the burlesque, illusions and theatrical performance.
There are also lots of places to eat and drink during your visit as The Howl offers lots of street food vendors and bars around the farm. In general, there is enough time to visit everything and enjoy what is going on around.
New unlimited tickets also make for a more relaxing evening as visitors are free to spend more time at the attraction and visit their favorite haunts as much as they like. Instead of trying to tick off all seven attractions, people are now able to stay longer and simply enjoy the atmosphere of The Howl.
The Howl is held at Mead Open Farm, Stanbridge Road, Billington, near Leighton Buzzard, Bedfordshire, LU7 9JH.
The gates open at 6 pm, with the attractions opening at 6.30 pm and the attraction will finish at 11 pm.
The ticket prices start from £32 and group tickets are also available. The tickets include unlimited visits to the seven haunts, depending on opening times and queueing.
The attraction is not recommended to people under 12 and younger visitors should check the supervision requirements. Free parking is provided on site, however, the haunted attractions are not wheelchair accessible.
