The Thing Sequel
Coming Attractions has it from two different sources that, based on the huge support for the new video game based on John Carpenter’s 1982 box office flop/greatest success, ‘The Thing’, a potential sequel may be in the works. Yes…’The Thing 2: Thing Harder’
One of the scoopers has reported that Universal sent some ‘feelers’ out to see if John Carpenter himself would be interested in writing/directing the sequel. Supposedly Carpenter sent back that he was interested…if Universal would give him a dumptruck full of money to work with. Needless to say, Universal is still only considering the man for the gig. Allegedly.
The second scooper reported the Universal is waiting to see how well the game does before it even considers any amount of money for the budget of the sequel. If the game does well (which it looks like it will), the company may be willing to put in the kind of money Carpenter is allegedly asking for. If the sales are strong but not huge, we may see it made without Carpenter’s involvement at all, or we may never see it period.
