BURNS IS UP A RIVER
Ghosts lending a helping hand to the living just feels sobleh, these days. Following films like The Sixth Sense and The Others, a slew of tired-ass forgettables like Dragonfly got lost in the supernatural frenzy. One would think that the ghost sub-genre would either take a new method of approach or introduce themselves to the bench for a little down time. Nah, some production companies aren’t ready to let up.
Myriad Pictures, in conjunction Canada’s imX Communications, is readying The River King for production next Spring. Ed Burns (15 Seconds) leads as a cop (no WAY!) who’s called to investigate the murder of a prep school student. Fortunately for Burns, the ghost of said preppie is a helpful spirit and lays a trail of clues that’ll hopefully bring this cop around to solving the case.
King will be helmed by Nick Willing based on a script penned by David Kane. Myriad (Jeepers Creepers 2, The Good Girl) recently sold the distribution rights for the film to Momentum Pictures for a U.K. and Canadian release and to Filmax (Dagon) for distrib in Spain.
