COLUMBIA TAKES RAIMI’S GRUDGE
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Columbia has officially picked up U.S. distribution rights to THE GRUDGE, the second production by Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert’s Senator International-backed Ghost House Pictures. (Col’s sister company Screen Gems will release Ghost House’s first pic, BOOGEYMAN.) THE GRUDGE is a remake of JU-ON, the Japanese horror-movie series about a curse born of anger that is passed through a series of victims, and spawned two direct-to-video features and two theatrical films (which themselves have been acquired for Stateside release by Lions Gate). Original director Takashi Shimizu is helming the redux in Japan, from a script by Stephen Susco.
