ARONOFSKY PRODUCING KALI FEATURE
Variety reports that Darren (REQUIEM FOR A DREAM) Aronofsky will produce a film version of Dan Simmons novel SONG OF KALI with Eric Watson for his Protozoa Pictures company. Lucas Sussman, who co-wrote the original script of BELOW with Aronofsky, is screen-adapting the story of an American poet, his Indian wife and their baby who travel to Calcutta and become embroiled with a cult that worships that ancient Indian goddess of the title. No director has been named for the film, which is being backed by the New Regency company for release by Fox. New Regency is also developing FLICKER, scripted by Aronofsky and Jim (FIGHT CLUB) Uhls, based on Theodore Roszaks novel about a film student who comes to believe that B-movies are part of a plot to destroy life on Earth.
