DETAILS ON LET’S SCARE JESSICA REMAKE
Creature Corner, citing the Script Sales site, reported that CFP Productions has purchased a new script for an update of John Hancock’s creepy 1971 cult classic LET’S SCARE JESSICA TO DEATH. This screenplay, by David Loucka (who has specialized in comedy since beginning his career with a MONSTERS episode) is described on the Script Sales site with a log line identical to the Internet Movie Database description of the ’71 film, in which a young woman just released from a mental hospital has her rural recovery threatened by a series of increasingly bizarre and frightening events. Originally, reports were that a new JESSICA being developed by Paramount, which released the original, would be a remake in name only, and that the script by Teddy Tenenbaum, who has written for the DEAD ZONE TV series, would focus on a woman who enters a controversial treatment program that exposes her to her worst phobias in order to cure her of them.
The Script Sales report doesn’t mention Paramount, but it can be assumed that the studio is still involved, as that blurb states that the JESSICA update will be produced by CFP’s Christine Peters and that her outfit is an offshoot of Robert Evans’ company; the two previously teamed on Paramount’s THE OUT-OF-TOWNERS and HOW TO LOSE A GUY IN 10 DAYS.
