NEW ACTOR SPEAKS ON BEGINNING
Below you’ll find an article where James D’Arcy, an actor in the second version of Exorcist: The Beginning, talks about his role, and the second version of the film. As of right now there is talk of a Fall release for this version, which does include ‘vomit and spinning heads.’ Read on for the story.
Zap2It had a quite interesting talk with young rising actor James D’Arcy the other day, the man taking over the role left by Gabriel Mann for the new ‘second version’ of the upcoming Exorcist: The Beginning which wrapped in Rome again recently.
D’Arcy confirms that ‘Only two minutes of the original film is being kept’, referring to Director Paul Schraeder’s original cut which was shot in early 2003 and now sits somewhere within the Warners vaults. Whilst he plays Father William Francis in the movie, he’s not sure how it compares with the role in the original cut played by Gabriel Mann – ‘I don’t know if it’s the same script even, so whatever Gabriel was playing, I don’t know that it’s the same kind of character, it’s the same name but beyond that I don’t know’.
Of the original, D’Arcy says ‘I don’t know how many people had seen what Paul had done, so I think everyone was a little confused at first and a little mystified. I’d never heard of a film being completely reshot before. They cast me really late as well, so I kind of turned up and didn’t know what was happening…I wouldn’t watch it. I just do what I’m supposed to do. I’d s*** myself and then spend three nights with the duvet up [to my chin] kind of going, ‘I can’t sleep.’ So I don’t watch horror movies. And this one I may not be able to watch either’.
