UNDERWORLD STAR TO BATTLE AS BEOWULF
Moviehole, citing an item on Inside Film Magazines site, reports that Darclight Films is preparing a new film version of BEOWULF. Unconnected (thank goodness!) to the previous Christopher Lambert film of the same name, this adaptation will star Scott (UNDERWORLD) Speedman as the titular medieval hero who battles the murderous monster Grendel. The creature in this particular interpretation will not bear supernatural powers, but will rather be a flesh-and-blood enemy driven by rage and vengeance. Sean Connery has been offered a supporting role; Icelandic filmmaker Sturla Gunnarsson, who has helmed episodes of the 80s TWILIGHT ZONE and RAY BRADBURY THEATRE among numerous other TV and feature credits, will direct from a script by Andrew Rai (BLOOD & DONUTS) Berzins.
