MORTENSEN VIOLENCE CASTING
Josh Olson, screenwriter on the upcoming David Cronenberg film A HISTORY OF VIOLENCE, gave Fango the news that Viggo Mortensen, hot off the LORD OF THE RINGS trilogy, has been cast in the lead role of the New Line film. He plays an ordinary family guy who runs a diner and gets involved in a situation that leads people into thinking hes someone elsea guy with a mob past. Youll have to see the movie to find out what happens next, says Olson, who couldnt be happier about the casting. Hes definitely the guy I was thinking about when I was writing the script. So we now have the lead actor I had in mind and a director whos way better than anybody I could have hoped for. The next step is to look for a lead actress. Theyre hoping to shoot this fall, mostly in Canada and a couple of days in Philadelphia. VIOLENCE is based on the Paradox Press graphic novel by John Wagner and Vince Locke and produced by JC Spink and Chris Bender, who also made New Lines THE BUTTERFLY EFFECT.
