WAX SET CAUGHT ALIGHT
In a case of life imitating art (or the end of the 1953 original, anyway), Variety reports that this past Saturday night, a fire destroyed the soundstage where Warner Bros. and Dark Castle were filming their HOUSE OF WAX remake at the Warner Roadshow Studios on Australia’s Gold Coast. The blaze was apparently touched off when molten wax figures came into contact with a gas burner being used for an onscreen burning sequence; three sets along with camera and sound equipment were among the casualties, though no cast or crew were injured. The shoot, which was wrapping up week seven of an 11-week schedule, will be back underway by the middle of this week, and the October 22 release date will not be affected. Jaume Collet-Serra is directing WAX with a cast including Elisha Cuthbert, Chad Michael Murray and Paris Hilton.
