Killer Shrews II Coming?
An article in this past Sundays New York Times on budget DVD labels reveals that one mainstay of such cheapie discs may be getting sequelized. James Best, who starred in the 1959 Ray Kellogg schlocker THE KILLER SHREWS, says of the movies popularity in the low-cost format, This craze could build an audience for the sequel Im writing. The actor is almost done with a first-draft script, and says of KILLER SHREWS IIs storyline, I return to Shrew Island to rescue a bunch of teenagers. A new mad scientist has turned herself into a human shrew that not only chews, but swims. This ones a little more expensive [than the original]. I could make it for, say, 75 cents. Perhaps Best was inspired by the upcoming feature-film revival of his best-known credit, TVs THE DUKES OF HAZZARD; in any case, well let you know if we hear any more about this project.
