They’re making a sequel to Bats.
How’s that for being blunt. Who’s “they,” you ask? We’re guessing it’s those shadowy figures who sit behind Hollywood desks and randomly find films to make sequels to.
In all seriousness though, the Bats sequel thing is according to Moviehole who are working from a scoop sent in to them. The original was written by John Logan. It starred Lou Diamond Phillips as a small town sheriff who had to save his people from a horde of genetically altered bats. And there was a lot of bad CGI and puppetry.
This new chapter being readied for the direct-to-video market follows a team of soldiers in Afghanistan searching the mountains for a terrorist leader hiding within a dense cave system. There the soldier encounter those pesky bats.
No word yet on who’s starring or directing, but production begins next month.
