Christopher (THE PROPHECY) Walken plays a stalker and Jason (SEINFELD) Alexander (!) is the detective out to track him down in TEMPLE OF FEAR, a new indie shocker that began shooting in Arizona today under first-time feature producer/director Jennifer Abbott. Jon (CITY SLICKERS) Lovitz (!!) is in talks to co-star in the $5-10-million indie production.
“The plot is about two girls [played by newcomers Amanda Sheperd and Hannah Murphy] traveling through the Arizona desert,” Abbott, who adapted the screenplay from her OTHER DIMENSION anthology, tells Fango. “They encounter a psycho killer [Walken], who’s also a cop. It turns out to be a premonition by one of the girls, but when she wakes up, the scenario plays out again. So our heroine has to prevent the premonition from really happening.”
Produced by Atlantis Releasing, TEMPLE OF FEAR is shooting in Flagstaff, AZ. Though the film does not have a distributor locked up at this early stage, the London-born Abbott insists that the big boys will be calling soon. “It will be one of the main studios, possibly,” she says. “Miramax will go in on it. We are confident that by using Walken, we’ll have no problem in getting TEMPLE OF FEAR distributed all over the world.”
