Scream figures Reggie Bannister and Linnea Quigley wrapped roles in SPRING BREAK MASSACRE, a new Midwest slasher yarn that shot this past October. Directed by Michael (SCARY TALES) Hoffman, SPRING BREAK MASSACRE co-stars John Shumski, Rick Federman and Bob (THE ROCKVILLE SLAYER) Farster. SLAYER’s Marc Selz consulted on the hi-def $120,000 production, which lensed over nine days in Galena, Illinois. Silas (GOD OF VAMPIRES) Tyler served as director of photography.
SPRING BREAK MASSACRE’s plot synopsis, per Hoffman, reads like this: “While on his pizza delivery route, driver Stanley Peterson made an error in judgment. He was found hovering over the mutilated body of a 17-year-old girl. Wrongfully accused and convicted, Stanley found himself with a 15-year sentence at the Mapleton County Correctional facility. Now, 10 years later, the same peaceful community will once again be plagued by a series of multiple slayings. On a beautiful spring evening, all hell will break loose. The only foreseen problem is that Stanley is still in prison…Or is he? Watch as 10 college students learn the importance of following three simple rules: #1: Don’t answer the door; #2: Don’t go in the basement; #3: And for God’s sake, don’t go outside unarmed. Remember, a girl is never safe in the dark, without her daddy.
“A distributor has already offered to buy the picture,” Hoffman tells Fango of the film, whose tagline screams, “This spring, party till you drop…DEAD.” “Reggie plays Sheriff Yates,” the director continues, “and Linnea is Deputy Hendricks. The movie is an homage to the Roger Corman SLUMBER PARTY MASSACRE series. Like those, SPRING BREAK MASSACRE would be classified as a slasher film with comedic elements. Meghan Jones, with whom I co-wrote THE CLOWN for Corbin Bernsen, was the primary writer. She’s actually a poet, and this was her first produced screenplay. I co-wrote additional dialogue with her and created the story.”
