If you’re a fan of Pandemic Studios’ Destroy All Humans! – a quaint little video game that could have been better but was still quite a bit of fun while it lasted – then the news that Pandemic Studios will be re-teaming with THQ to bring us the further adventures of everyone’s favorite Jack Nicholson sound-a-like, anal probing, brain bursting, gray-style alien invader with an attitude should bring a smile to your face.
The first Destroy All Humans! cast you as Crypto 137, an ill-tempered alien that invades tranquil 1950’s America in search of human brain stems while having to deal with Commie hating army types and mysterious G-Men in black. Destroy All Humans! 2 will have Crypto returning to Earth to wreak more havoc, but this time it will be set in 1960’s where Cold War paranoia and hippie flower power are running wild. The game will go global with Crypto running around open-world game environments based on San Francisco, London, Japan, and Russia. Among Crypto’s adversaries this time out will be Soviet forces, James Bond-style spies, and ninjas. Yep, ninjas! Good thing Crypto will be armed with new weapons such as the Gastro Gun and new mental powers like Body Snatching. Pandemic will also be adding a co-op mode for multiplayer mass destruction.
One odd thing – the game is due in the fall and yet is only listed as being for the PS2 and Xbox, even though Xbox 360 and PS3 will be on the market. Strange? or at least a sign that the PS2 and Xbox aren’t going to be phased out anytime soon.
