New Line Cinema are in final negotiations with actress Rooney Mara to take on the cult role of Nancy Thompson for the new revamp of ‘A Nightmare on Elm Street’. Mara will, if signed up, will join the newly crowned dream master Freddy Krueger who is to be played by Jackie Earle Haley (good choice methinks!), and also Kyle Gallner and Thomas Dekker who play the characters Quentin and Jesse respectively.
Mara will take over the role previously portrayed by Heather Langenkamp (whom many years ago I had an unhealthy obsession with) in the original.
Music video director Samuel Bayer will begin the shoot for the remake early next month in Chicago.
If you don’t know the premise of ‘A Nightmare on Elm Street’ already then I suggest you get out from under that rock and live a little.
The co-production between Warner Bros. Pictures, New Line Cinema and Platinum Dunes is expected to hit theatres nationwide on April 16, 2010! – Dream on.
