Australian horror thriller ‘Road Train’ will be one of the 8 new flicks to be screened at the Fangoria FrightFest. And as part of the deal it wil be distributed in 3,500 Blockbuster video outlets across the United States as well as VOD, online and could even make it to theatres stateside too. Although it will get a title change to ‘Road Kill’. What it may become when it hits UK shores is anyones guess. As ‘Road Kill’ was already the alternative title for 2001’s ‘Joy Ride’ starring Paul Walker and Steve Zahn.
‘Road Train’ stars Xavier Samuel (‘The Twilight Saga: Eclipse’) and Sophie Lowe (‘Beautiful Kate’) and is the debut feature from helmer Dean Francis. It’s a supernatural thriller that tells the story of four teenagers who are menaced by a gaint, malevolent truck in the Australian outback.
Francis has stated, “Its huge affirmation for a small Australian film like ours to be picked up on such a scale. Fangoria is a genre institution and they know what works for audiences. ROAD KILL is a distinctly Australian take on a time-honored genre and I’m excited to see what American fanboys make of it”.
