The second feature from writer-director and SFX wizard, Robert Hall, LAID TO REST is a jaw-droppingly gory back-to-basics slasher movie that takes a deceptively simple plot device and uses it as the springboard for a gruesome effects-laden shocker that recalls the spirit of old school stalk-and-slash classics such as ‘Maniac’, ‘The Prowler’ and ‘Black Christmas’.
A young woman wakes up inside a sealed coffin with no recollection of who she is or how she got there. After escaping, she discovers that a relentless, silent serial killer wearing a chrome skull mask and a shoulder-mounted video camera on which he records his victims’ plight is responsible for her kidnapping and is now intent on stalking and killing her. Finding refuge in a nearby farmhouse owned by Cindy (Lena Headey) and Tucker (Kevin Gage) she quickly learns that she is not the only one whose life is on the line. A killer with a ferocious appetite for bloody slaughter, Chrome Skull will stop at nothing and no one when it comes to finishing what he has started.
