The English language debut from acclaimed director Johnnie To, neo-noir ‘Vengeance’ begins with French assassin-turned-chef, Francois Costello (Johnny Halladay, The Man on The Train), seeking revenge for the massacre of his daughter’s family, gunned down by a group of triads. It arrives on DVD and Blu-Ray on 28 July and we have 3 copies of the DVD up for grabs!
When Costello arrives in Hong Kong a chance encounter leads to him meeting three assassins, Kwai, Chu and Lok who he hires to help him find the men responsible. Progressively suffering the gradual onset of amnesia from the effects of a bullet lodged in his brain from long ago, his mission is imbued with even greater urgency. He creates a trail of memories using Polaroid pictures, a trail that eventually leads him and his accomplices to vulgar, decadent crime lord George Fung (Simon Yam), both the man responsible for Costello’s loss, and also his new friends’ employer. Will they keep faith and honour their agreement with a man they know little about, knowing the repercussions should they fail?
