Genre Vets in Uwe Bolls Dungeon
Somehow, despite the failure of ALONE IN THE DARK to catch on at the box office, Uwe Boll keeps getting increasingly bigger budgets for his movies; according to The Hollywood Reporter, his latest video-game adaptation DUNGEON SIEGE is being produced for a cool $60 million. This ones more of a fantasy/adventure than a horror film, but that money has allowed him to land a cast with no small amount of genre cred. HELLBOYs Ron Perlman plays the best friend of the hero, Farmer, whos portrayed by Jason Statham, a familiar face from GHOSTS OF MARS, CELLULAR and others. John Rhys-Davies, of the LORD OF THE RINGS trilogy and many others, is court sorcerer Merrick, whose daughter Muriella is the heroine and is played by Leelee (JOYRIDE) Sobieski. Kristanna Loken, TERMINATOR 3s T-X, returns from Bolls BLOODRAYNE to play a tree creature (!), and Burt Reynolds (!!) appears as King Konreid. The movie will film (like every other genre feature these days) in Vancouver, with production starting this Sunday.
