    ANOTHER FvsJ VEGAS REPORT

Word this morning from one of the sources over at MovieHole is that the test screenings for ￿Freddy vs. Jason￿ have been so advantageous, that the studio have their fingers crossed they might have a bit of a hit on their hands. And even better news? I￿m told they￿ve already begun discussions about doing a sequel. Although where that would go, I￿m uncertain.

Meantime, we received a report from a reader who was at last week￿s ￿Freddy vs. Jason￿ conference in Vegas.

‘Well, I’m still floating, still feeling like I’m dreaming… Needless to say, but I’ll say it anyway: July 15th was one of the happiest days of my life, simply unforgettable.

I woke up at 3:30 AM and hit the road to Vegas. I was the first one to arrive at Bally’s, at 6:30AM. I entered the empty hall and was soon kicked out, having to wait in line until about 9:30 – which was actually lots of fun, meeting other Jason and Freddy fans. Then Heather arrived and we met. We were given backstage passes, which made me go nuts for a while, but I soon found that it was false propaganda – that was just the normal admission pass. We were finally let in and we got the closest table, right in front. We all were given cool FvsJ t-shirts, I got my voice recorder ready (recorded the whole presentation) and then it started.

Heather wrote details of the show on her website, so I won’t repeat it all again. When Freddy first came in, then Jason, oh my… I screamed hysterically!!! I couldn’t believe my eyes, that was sooooooo umbelievable, so amazing!!! I’ve been a huge fan of these two characters since forever, and now both of them were standing right in front of me… Just another fan can understand how hugely intense it feels.

I didn’t know how to use that damned one-use camera, so I lost a lot of the first shots… 🙁 I was so mad at myself. But I still got very nice ones.

So we were shown trailers, interviews w/ the cast, and two Jason kills that were awsome! Robert was incredibly funny, making everyone laugh everytime he spoke… all the jokes were up to him, since Jason don’t speak. My English wasn’t enough to always understand him, but just by his facial expressions and movements I KNEW what he was talking about. Even in the minimal gestures Robert shown how a great actor he is.

And, when it was only starting… it ended. How long was it, 15 minutes? When the ‘security’ was taking ‘Freddy’ and ‘Jason’ away, and we were told ‘That’s it, thank you for coming!’ I could swear they were only teasing us, making us ask for more. It didn’t cross my mind that they were really going. But, yes, the public left. It was true. So this was a big deception, how incredibly short it was. 🙁 But I can surely say: short, but every second was golden, every second of it was PERFECT.

I was mad, though, which prompted me do act drastically… I was determined to try sneaking backstage! My first idea was simply going up the table and running to the curtains, but then I would have been noticed in two seconds. So I saw that exit lateral passage… I was scared of getting myself in trouble, but the risk was worth to be taken. I asked Heather to go with me, but she was like ‘NO WAY!!!’ So I went by myself. I entered the door, walked through corridors, got a little lost (so typical!) and finally found them. My heart was beating so fast!!! There they were – Robert, Ken, Sean Cunninghan, Ronny Yu, the six or eight ‘security’ actors and several others that I don’t know. There were no lights, it was dark, and they were standing and talking in a low voice. I stopped for a moment, stood in a discreet spot trying not to be noticed, too nervous to move. Robert was about 15 feet from me – I could swear someone would stop me before I reached him. But nobody did! 🙂 I was also worried about annoying them, I thought Robert would get mad at me, since I clearly wasn’t supposed to be there – I didn’t want him to dislike me on the first time we’d meet!

So I willed myself to walk to him. Nobody stood in my way. I slightly touched his shoulder and whispered ‘Robert!’ (as low as I could… I thought if someone else hear me, they would kick me out!) It was so low he didn’t hear me, so I called his name again. From there on I don’t remember details of what he said or what I said – I was so nervous! – but I basically asked for a picture with him and commented about risking to get fired for being there. Somebody I don’t know took the picture – I had the blades on my face! Robert was very nice and didn’t seem mad at all, he in fact was warm and welcoming – I was so relieved! I didn’t even introduce myself or have any conversation…I ran away as fast as I came, before getting in trouble with the real security, hoping to have a chance to really talk with him someday.

Of course, after Robert I went to Ken, that was very nice too and seemed to be very happy for meeting a fan, which I thought was so sweet. He was without the mask, just with a black fabric (or dye?) covering his face, and no jacket. He put it all back for the picture. But one thing was missing… I asked ‘The machete, please?’ He was trying to grab the machete but I was in the way between him and the table. ‘Yes, but you are in my way!’ (That was SO funny… who am I to prevent Jason from reaching his machete? In the movie that wouldn’t have been a problem, he’d just throw me against a wall and grab it!) OK, so picture time. Holy cow, that man is HUGE!!! I barely reached his shoulders! I loved the hug, that huge arm around me making me feel protected. 🙂 Ken is really good looking and sexy… at least in appearance he makes a great Jason! I no longer feel ressented by him taking Kane’s place! 🙂

So I left – flying, not walking! 🙂 – got lost again and went to Heather: ‘Guess what you’ve missed for not coming? HA!!!’ She went nuts when I said what I’ve been up to… then she wanted to go too. ‘So just go through that door – good luck! I can’t go there again!’ But she was too afraid, and when I saw she really woudn’t go by herself, I went with her. She did the same thing – took a pic w/ Robert and one w/ Ken, while I was standing back. She said Sean Cunninghan took her pics. Robert even noticed they were wearing the same boots, which made her very, very happy. She did it all fast and we left.

Then, of course, we spend the rest of the day laughing aloud and saying ‘OH MY GOD!!!’ every minute… (LOL!) We were two extremely happy girls floating through the streets of Las Vegas, having one of the best days of our lives. We were smilling so much that our cheeks were hurting, but we couldn’t stop!’
