    DOG SOLDIERS 2 NEWS!

The coolest flick to hit video last year, and the coolest were-wolf film to come out in a long time is getting a sequel, but some digging finds out that this was actually planned out as a trilogy, is that still happening? Maybe, but part 2 is definitely coming.

Ain’t It Cool says that David Allen, the producer for the first film, will also be producing ‘Dog Soldiers 2’ and according to the director and writer, Neil Marshall it was originally to be a trilogy. The films would have followed ‘Cooper’ (Kevin McKidd) who would have been the british version of the ‘Evil Deads’ ultimate horror hero Ash, and each chapter would have involved Coopers battle with different supernatural enemies. Werewolves, vampires and zombies. There is brief mention of this on the DVD. During the commentary, the the female character leans on a window frame as she looks out of the window, and a shard of glass cuts itself in the palm of her hand. At this point, in the commentary, David Allen asks, ‘Do you wanna talk about the blood on the hand?’ to which Neil Marshall responds with something like ‘Yeah, well this was supposed to be a setup for the final part in the trilogy. It was all about the DNA and …. well I suppose none of that matters now. Which is a shame because it was a really cool setup.’ So it would seem whatever plans he had have been scrapped, but it shows he was thinking ahead to future films.

Either way Dog Soldiers was a hell of a film, and they can either go two ways, a rehash or they’ll move the series further in a new, fresh, direction. You can be sure that thanks to the positive outcry from the original, an abundance of CG will not be presnet. That is always a great thing.
