Live Feed Update and First Photos!
FX artist-turned-filmmaker Ryan Nicholson has shared with Fango a few early pics from LIVE FEED, the fright film hes currently shooting in Vancouver. We just finished seven grueling nights and have gone through a couple of gallons of hand sanitizer! he tells Fango. And were not even half done yet. The crazy thing is, shooting in a working porno theater has its upspardon the punand its downs. My props department keeps the rest of the crew guessing: Is that used condom sticking to the floor set dressing or for real?!? Its sooooo nasty and creepy; the rooms where our tourists get trapped are in use right until we start shooting. They still smell like sex! Yuck!
Our actors have been great, Nicholson continues, and have really used their true disgust for this place in their acting. On certain nights, weve had two crewsmain unit and 2nd unitshooting in different areas of the theater, as well as crazy stunt and fight training taking place in the main cinema seating area. I walked in and it was like ENTER THE DRAGONdifferent groups of the best martial artists in the world battling and rehearsing for the next week. We have Hansen Li from China, who is a celebrity in the world of martial arts. Hansen just did a scene with a beautiful girl, a snake and a tube. Ill leave the rest to your imagination! But he was great, and scary as hell!
This movie is shaping up to be something amazing, and the dailies are great. Our cinematographer Sacha Popove has lit the movie so eerie and intense, I really think audiences will be digging LIVE FEEDs look. Vince DAmato is my 2nd-unit director, and hes been great, running up to me and saying, Ive got some crazy LAST HOUSE ON THE LEFT kinda shit for you, Ryan! I know youll love it! If it wasnt for his enthusiam and that of the rest of the crew and cast, this movie would still be a screenplay on my desktop.
LIVE FEED follows five young travelers in a foreign country who wind up experiencing what Nicholson refers to as a vacation to hell. You can find out more about the project at the website of production company Plotdigger Films.
