Jack S. writes, ‘Horror is hitting big in South Korea this summer, beginning with A Tale of Two Sisters.’ Already the film which hit theaters last Friday is getting some publicity with its recent ban of their subway poster..
KFC Cinema writes, ‘This news is about the advertisement of a new film called A Tale Of Two Sisters by director ‘Kim Ji Woon ([Quiet Family] – [Foul King]).’
‘This film will be released on 13th. Jun. in Korean theater, and as usual, they made advertisements for the subway. But this time, it was banned, because it seemed to be TOO GRAPHIC for the general pubic. (Upper picture) Seoul Subway Company got several complaints about this one and they reported to the movie companies that they can’t run subway advertisement with that picture, so they changed the add and changed it to a CLOSE UP OF THE FACE (Below picture) from 31th. May.’
‘Such banned-advertisements rarely occur in Korea. Just last year [The Eye] poster almost got banned, but is was too late to change so they left it like it was. In Japan, Korean horror film Phone (Japanese title ?Voice?) advertisement was banned from TV, because children would be too frightened.’
Jeff S writes in about ‘Screen Daily reporting that the fright flick has claimed the biggest opening of any film in Seoul. (Matrix Reloaded still holds the national opening record). Screen Daily continues to report that another five Korean horror films are on the way this summer.
