AWARD-WINNING SERIAL KILLER MYSTERY ‘Surveilled’ goes on general release

Following a limited, but successful festival run with screenings in London (UK), Sydney (Australia) and San Diego (USA), RAYA FILMS are thrilled that their ‘smart horror’ feature film Surveilled is now available to watch on an increasing number of streaming channels worldwide, including Amazon Prime and Tubi.

Shot just before the Covid-19 pandemic struck, Surveilled is a creepy horror/mystery filmed entirely on a Samsung S9+ smartphone with anamorphic lens.

“We have been pleasantly surprised with very positive audience responses at our screenings, backed up by some lovely testimonials and reviews,” explains producer and screenwriter, Caroline Spence. “For a film shot on a smartphone with a production budget of a little over $6,000, this is amazing! The screenplay has echoes of David Fincher’s Zodiac, which is just one of the real-life serial killers and events that inspired the story.“

James Smith was both director and cinematographer on the project, which stars a diverse cast from around the globe. “We were incredibly fortunate to have hugely talented actors keen to fly in from Europe, the USA and Australia to work on the project alongside local cast and crew. I feel we have a truly special project on offer – a commercial horror with global appeal and a storyline that is bound to get audiences talking.“

Logline:

Inspired by popular crime novels depicting a violent serial killer, a copycat murderer emerges to terrorize the town of Clairmont.

Plot Outline:

Surveilled is a study in psychological manipulation and the perception of justice.

Joe Brooke has dark interests. As well as working under the radar for low-level criminals as a surveillance operative, he also has a fascination with serial killers – his bookshelf is filled with biographies on the most notorious murderers of modern times.

Ironically, however, Joe’s hometown of Clairmont is the home of the country’s latest serial killer. Three local women have been brutally murdered by an attacker dubbed The Clairmont Murderer, a copycat killer who re-enacts the sickening murders depicted in a series of violent crime novels, the fanatical popularity of which is sweeping through the country.

Having recently watched a TV crime show highlighting the case, Joe finds himself embroiled in the world of The Clairmont Murderer when he witnesses some disturbing behaviour in the course of his work.
