The Matt Reves (‘Let Me In’) directed sequel ‘Dawn of the Planet of the Apes’ made an appearance over the weekend at this years Comic-Con event in San Diego which revealed the first official still from the production. The still features Caesar who returns from ‘The Rise of the Planet of the Apes’ to lead his Ape army which once more sees actor and all-round motion capture hero Andy Serkis (‘The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug’) reprise his role as the sinister simian. The upcoming sequel also stars Jason Clarke (‘Zero Dark Thirty’), Gary Oldman (‘Bram Stoker’s Dracula’), Keri Russell (‘Dark Skies’), Toby Kebbell (‘Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time’), Kodi Smit-McPhee (‘ParaNorman’), Enrique Murciano, Kirk Acevedo and Judy Greer. Check out the new image below.

“A growing nation of genetically evolved apes led by Caesar is threatened by a band of human survivors of the devastating virus unleashed a decade earlier. They reach a fragile peace, but it proves short-lived, as both sides are brought to the brink of a war that will determine who will emerge as Earth’s dominant species.”

‘Dawn of the Planet of the Apes’ is due for release on 18 July 2014.
