For those who suffer from a fear of clowns have had it particularly rough of late due to the endless headlines involving gangs of unhinged clowns jumping out and harassing people up and down the country. This bizarre and quite terrifying phase has already made it across the pond with copycat clowns popping up all over the place. It’s enough to give anyone a fright and so there doesn’t appear to be any better time for movie makers to take advantage of this national frightfest.
Filmmaker and lifelong horror fan Blair Franklin has recently launched his very own new horror short film project all about creepy clowns. The project entitled ‘Night of the Clowns’ is now available on Kickstarter and couldn’t be more relevant in the midst of this clown-based phenomenon that is currently plaguing our country.
“A roller derby girl leaves practice one night with her teammates and as she makes her way home alone, clowns ensue…but the most horrifying part is WHY they are there.”
WHY WE WANT TO MAKE THIS: We want to make a creepy horror short film about CLOWNS! As horror fans, we are endlessly frustrated with how clowns are depicted in horror films. Clowns are usually shown as monstrous, yellow-eyed, sharp-fanged, dirty-haired, clawed up clowns in so many horror films, but the creepy circus clowns like Pennywise with their overly active smiles, sing-songy voices and exaggerated gestures are the ones that truly infect your nightmares.
