Danish director Christian E. Christiansen, currently shooting on ‘The Roommate’ with Alyson Michalka, Cam Gigandet and Leighton Meester, has been confirmed as director of the new upcoming ‘Hellraiser’ remake. Victor Garcia is currently in post-production of ‘Hellraiser: Revelations’, the 9th installment in the series, which was pushed forward in order for the studio to retain the rights to the franchise in order for the remake to go ahead. The Weinstein Company are apparently keen to get ahold of sexy Texan actress Amber Heard (‘All the Boys Love Mandy Lane’, ‘The Stepfather’, ‘Drive Angry 3D’) to star in the revamp. From the sounds of it they’re also pushing for a more teen-orientated tale for the remake which is possibly the worst news I’ve heard in a long time. It’s a shame that the almighty dollar supercedes any artistic brilliance these days especially in such a reinventive genre such as horror.
