Indiegogo Campaign Launched For Proof-Of-Concept Short Film

By Peter 'Witchfinder' Hopkins on June 10, 2021 News

A Indiegogo campaign has been launched to raise funds to shoot the proof of concept short film “Transmission”.

Co-creators Brad Goodman and Jim Suthers have many years experience in the entertainment industry; Brad as an actor, writer and director, and Jim as a writer, director and special effects makeup artist. After meeting several years ago to work on another producer’s project that didn’t come together, they formed Zombie Bird Productions LLC, to generate their own projects!

“Transmission” is the result of that alliance, fulfilling their goal to launch projects that are not only thought-provoking, but also entertaining. Though the script hits all the right notes in terms of the suspense, action and thrills sci-fi/horror movie fans crave, “Transmission” also explores themes about which both Brad and Jim are deeply concerned: feminism, diversity, and the capacity of humankind to adapt to and survive any challenge.

This Indiegogo campaign will fund what is known as a “proof of concept” short, which will be used to secure financing for a feature length version of the movie. Thus, your support will help create a springboard for an even larger and more exciting venture; the making of a full-length feature film “coming soon” to a theater or streaming platform near you!

Behind the camera, the funds raised will be used to rent equipment and pay experienced professionals to operate them. In front of the camera, your support will pay for sets, props, wardrobe, makeup (including creature makeup), and the supplies needed to keep both people and equipment running smoothly. We also hope to secure at least one well-known actor (TBD).

While the long term goal of a feature film is exciting, your support will also be rewarded sooner. Be sure to check out the Donor Perks shown at the right on the Indiegogo campaign page.

Making a film is a complex undertaking, requiring the collaboration of many artists and technicians. Even the most well-funded and staffed projects encounter unforeseen challenges and setbacks.

Sometimes, despite the best efforts of everyone involved, a project doesn’t achieve the success for which everyone involved had hoped. Not all feature films are funded, even with an amazing proof-of-concept short. And not all movies secure distribution or, even if they do, may not resonate with their intended audiences as hoped.

The best way to improve the odds of success is to assemble the most experienced, focused and passionate cast and crew possible — people who know how to face challenges and overcome them, quickly, on time and on budget. This project has the capacity to attract exactly those kinds of people!

Funding isn’t the only way to help bring “Transmission” to the screen. Perhaps you have a desert location that can be used for the shoot; or scrap lumber that can be donated to build sets.

You may know others who would like to support this project — fans of science fiction and horror fiction or movies in general. Please share this campaign with them, using the Indiegogo share tools.

Any promotion and support you can generate will be greatly appreciated, not only by the filmmakers, but also by others who share your enthusiasm for movies like “Transmission.” Thank you for your support!
